Research group “Research for Sustainable Energy Technologies” (RESET)
The research group works in the field of systems analysis (SA) and constructive technology assessment (CTA) of electrochemical storage systems (especially power-to-x and batteries), energetic use of biomass/biogenic residues and waste materials, electric mobility, and smart grids. Our goal is to integrate economic, ecological, and social aspects (LCA and LCC, S-LCA/sustainability analysis) into the early phase of material or technology development in order to identify and analyze promising and sustainable paths for the design of new materials and technologies.
The sustainability assessments are carried out using a life-cycle-oriented approach and extended to include further aspects and stakeholders (e.g., potential users or NGOs), in line with constructive technology assessment (CTA). This also includes the prospective analysis of energy technologies in different application contexts of the transformation of the energy and mobility system. Strategic resources and the social acceptance of the respective technologies are analyzed and evaluated as well. The further development and use of several systems analysis tools for decision support (e.g., material flow analysis -MFA-, life cycle assessment -LCA-, life cycle costing -LCC-, and multi criteria decision analysis -MCDA-) is an integral part of our work.
