Organization
The Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) is a research institute of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Research University in the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. After a long institutional history, ITAS was founded on 1 July 1995. Since October 1999, it has been headed by Prof. Dr. Armin_Grunwald.
The research work is assigned to the research field Energy and the new research field Information of the Helmholtz Association. It is carried out in the Energy Systems Design (ESD) and the Engineering Digital Futures (EDF) programs.
The Institute is part of KIT’s Division II – Informatics, Economy, and Society. Interdisciplinary research topics are coordinated in the KIT Centers Humans and Technology, Climate and Environment, and Energy. Prof. Dr. Armin Grunwald and Prof. Dr. Dr. Rafaela Hillerbrand hold chairs at KIT.
The approximately 120 scientific staff members of the Institute are involved in numerous projects, worked on in 12 interdisciplinary research groups and two cross-cutting activities.
