Project description
The SUPEERA project supports the implementation of the SET Plan. The proposal was developed in consultation with the European Commission, various SET Plan Implementation Working Groups, and the EERA Joint Programmes.
SUPEERA will support the energy research organizations involved in the SET Plan by monitoring and optimizing the actions of the Implementation Plans, and by encouraging a stronger engagement of the EU-13 countries. Since the SET Plan does not yet provide for a mechanism for using cross-cutting research capacities or pooling interdisciplinary activities, SUPEERA will improve the exchange of information between the Implementation Working Groups and make recommendations for joint actions. SUPEERA will also help accelerate the uptake of new technologies by industry and examine the impact of EU policies on improving the implementation of the SET Plan.
One work package will carry out an impact assessment in line with the policy framework for the clean energy transition. The impact assessment will be based on selected indicators to analyze the impact of policy measures for implementing the SET plan. The analysis will use a set of energy system models provided by openENTRANCE. openENTRANCE is an EU-funded model platform to facilitate the provision of open access energy system models and to link the available models.
The task of ITAS is to identify suitable model-based indicators. The indicators will not only cover typical energy and macro-economic characteristics of energy systems, but also capture societal and environmental impacts.
