Appointment to the BMBF Advisory Board [10.11.2014]
Michael Decker, Professor of Technology Assessment and Deputy Head of ITAS will assist the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as Chairman of the Advisory Board on Innovation and Technology Analysis.
The jury of renowned scientists appointed by the Ministry will review project outlines of current studies on innovation and technology analysis. As Chairman of the independent Advisory Board, Michael Decker will lead the review process and represent it externally. Furthermore, the professor will assist the BMBF by providing advice on issues relating to innovation and technology analysis.
With the studies on innovation and technology analysis, the Ministry aims to shed light on the prerequisites, conditions and consequences of future technological and societal developments. The central question is how societal and technological developments can be early identified in order to exploit the opportunities and counter the risks in time.
The BMBF will use the findings of the ITA studies, among others, to organize funding and conditions and to orient its science communication.
