New publication: Innovation and Responsibility [10.09.2014]
The Society for the Study of Nanoscience and Emerging Technologies (S.NET) is an academic society in which ITAS has been involved from the start. S.NET is dedicated to research and dialogue on a broad variety of societal aspects of emerging technologies, extending beyond nanotechnology to include synthetic biology, geoengineering, artificial intelligence, robotics and more.
"Innovation and Responsibility: Engaging with New and Emerging Technologies" constitutes the fifth volume in the series "Studies of New and Emerging Technologies / S.NET" (IOS Press, Amsterdam, and AKA, Berlin), which showcases the research activities of the vibrant, multidisciplinary S.NET community. It contains papers that were presented at the fifth annual S.NET Conference on “Innovation, Responsibility and Sustainable Development” that took place at Northeastern University’s School of Law in Boston from 27 to 30 October 2013.
This volume captures the broad thematic scope, pronounced interdisciplinary nature and plurality of research interests that characterize S.NET as a society. It documents the unique character of the S.NET community, in which academics and practitioners from diverse disciplines and backgrounds cultivate an exchange about new and emerging sciences and technologies.
ITAS researchers were involved in editing all the volumes in the series, including the present one to which Christopher Coenen and Camilo Fautz have contributed with the support of Silvia Woll.
This year's annual conference will be hosted by ITAS and will run from 21 to 24 September 2014.
