New ITAS project on the compatibility of technology and networks in home care [25.02.2014]
It is impossible to provide responsible nursing care without a dense support network. In the framework of a start-up project, the Institute for the Study of Christian Social Service, Faculty of Theology of Heidelberg University and ITAS examine the complex co-operations in these care networks and ask whether technological support makes sense and in which way it could be provided.
In view of the latest prognoses on demographic change and an increase of the number of dementia patients, caregivers have to face a huge challenge. Approaches to cope with these challenges include the establishment of networks in home care as well as the use of technological innovations. In the framework of this project, both approaches are combined and crucial factors for both networking and the application of innovative technology in the care of dementia patients are identified. This will result in recommendations for a more individual care of people suffering from dementia.
