TA Conference within the PACITA Project in Prague – extended Call for Papers [09.08.2012]
The deadline for the submission of proposals for conference contributions has been extended until 9 September 2012. At this stage, submissions should be no longer than two pages and should be sent by e-mail to Ms. Iva Vančurová. PACITA is now running a separate web site for the event to provide up-to-date information on preparations and the conference programme.
For the first time in over two decades, there will be a European Conference on Technology Assessment. Two such conferences are scheduled in the framework of the EU project PACITA (Parliaments and Civil Society in Technology Assessment), the first of them from 13 to 15 March 2013 in Prague. ITAS is organising the conferences together with the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. A call for papers was recently issued.
The main focus of the conference will be the "great transitions" currently confronting European societies. Examples are health care and medicine, energy supply, climate change and mobility in addition to the use of computer technology in all areas of society. Methodological contributions are also welcome and are not restricted to technology assessment: foresight and neighbouring areas are also welcome.
The conference addresses a broad range of actors: beside researchers and policy makers, it also addresses so-called Civil Society Organisations as the representatives of citizen interests. Therefore novel or unusual forms of the presentation of results are welcome. The deadline for the submission of two-page abstracts (maximum) by e-mail is 09 September 2012.
