CONCERTO Premium started its work [28.06.2011]
ITAS, as well as partners of the Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum, 5 other institutes of KIT, 58 councils and a variety of research centers all over Europe, have been working on the project CONCERTO Premium of the DIRECTORATE-GENERAL FOR ENERGY of the EC since November 2010. After the development of a new structure of a data base and indicators to monitor the projects, the operative work of CONCERTO Premium starts visiting the individual projects and participating in CONCERTO workshops.
In 2005, the CONCERTO initiative was brought into being by the EC and is a part of the research frame program of the DIRECTORATE-GENERAL FOR ENERGY. The aim of this Europe-wide initiative is to contribute to a more sustainable energy supply in Europe in the field of construction and refurbishing of buildings. Currently, 58 councils in 22 projects work on putting up new districts or redesigning existing ones, aimed at achieving the greatest possible energy efficiency and best possible supply with renewable energies.
The CONCERTO initiative offers a platform to the 58 CONCERTO councils to discuss ideas and exchange experiences. It serves as a contact point for cities aiming at a lowest-possible-carbon energy supply.
CONCERTO Premium is an important part of the CONCERTO initiative. It links the various CONCERTO projects on behalf of the EC and supports the internal exchange and the communication of the results to the public.
The aim of CONCERTO Premium is to distribute a robust data and develop an information base that can be used by investors to guide the decision making process. Therefore, the application of climate protection measures in European cities, towns and neighboring countries, can be expanded.
It is the task of ITAS to elaborate political recommendations on how to improve the energy efficiency and apply renewable energies when constructing or refurbishing districts. The experiences of the CONCERTO projects with their individual political frame conditions will be recorded and evaluated and political recommendations will be elaborated. In addition, ITAS takes part in the team that defines indicators for evaluations of individual measures and for an evaluation-system for the CONCERTO projects.
