“At ITAS, I deal with the risks of particle physics experiments at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. These large-scale experiments in search of ground-breaking discoveries require tremendous amounts of resources and public funding. Therefore, the social and ethical considerations involved take us to the very heart of decision-making in science - right up to the question of whether the planned Future Circular Collider is worth pursuing at all.”
Marianne van Panhuys
Doctoral student at ITAS
